When I am gone...

Happy Holidays all!

I have to admit that this year the holidays have been very sad for me and my mom. We miss my dad so much and since the holidays are based around family and family gatherings, it just makes us miss dad even more. The cold and gloomy weather doesn't help either.

A wonderful man, whom I call my Pastor, shared this poem with me not too long ago and I wanted to share it with all those who might be going through the same emotions as my mom and I are during this holiday season.

This poem is beautiful. I hope you all enjoy! Remember (as I am also trying to remember at this time) our dear loved ones would not want us to be too sad in their absence. So, smile, be merry (I know this is very hard!!!), and reflect on the good times!

When I am gone, release me, let me go
I have so many things to see and do
You mustn’t tie yourself to me with tears.
Be happy that we had so many years.
I gave you my love you can only guess
...How much you gave me in happiness
I thank you for the love you each have shown,
But now it’s time I traveled on alone.
So, grieve a while for me, if grieve you must.
Then let your grief be comforted by trust.
It’s only for a while we must part.
So, bless the memories that lie within your heart.
I won’t be far away, for life goes on.
So if you need me, call on the One to whom I’ve gone
And I will come.
Though you can’t see me or touch me, in memory I’ll be near
And if you listen with your heart, you will hear
All of my love around you, soft and clear
And then when you must come this way alone,
I’ll greet you with a smile and “welcome home.”

Happy Holidays to you all! Enjoy your families and remember to say "I love you"!
